This is a phone I REALLY wanted!

From the release last year in China and India, I was patiently waiting for the UK official release. And it never happened!

These phones were also available from the beginning from Gearbest etc, but i wanted the retail store experience.

I gave up and bought this from Amazon and got a pretty good deal!

This phone has pretty much everything that you could want for a budget or mid range phone, octacore processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM 5.5" IPS screen with 1080p resolution.

The battery powering all this is a 3080mah unit that will provide around 2 days moderate use. Although the battery supports fast charging and will give you around a third of a full charge in around 30 minutes.

The cameras (three of them!) are set out with dual lens rear and single lens front so that is 12mp + 12mp rear and 8mp front. Video is up to 4k 30fps and the 4k is actually better than the 1080p footage for some strange reason? Although this may change with a software update.

Speaking of updates the Xiaomi MIA1 has Android One built in. This is Googles answer to some of the other "bloated" versions of the OS out there. This version is small, but has all the bases covered. And because of its setup it will be far easier for both Xiaomi and Google to create new updates and fixes.

Overall this is the BEST phone in this price range. It compares nicely with the Google Pixel 2 XL side by side and the same goes for the Iphone 7 or Nokia 6.

I really like what Xiaomi have done with this device and hopefully this will be the direction they take in the future.
